Perhaps the defining symbol of Łódź, Manufaktura is the former complex of red-brick textiles factories now reinvented as an enormous shopping, restaurant, and cultural space. In addition to the 250+ shops in the mall and 50-odd restaurants, Manufaktura has a museum, contemporary art gallery, hotels, and loads of activities. Completely pedestrianised, with plenty of greenery, fountains, and outdoor seating, Manufaktura is a destination in itself.
Manufaktura
The whole site is pretty huge with a row of restaurants on either side and a shopping mall at the head, all bracketing a large open space with smaller red-brick buildings, fountains, and activities. You’ll also find a multiplex cinema, bowling alley, theatre, gym, and various other entertainments. On sunny days, expect to see people zip wire above your head! However, the layout is intuitive and it’s very hard to get lost here.

The mall contains a large loop over two floors, with roughly 250 shops and many familiar international chains. In addition to the outside restaurants, there is a large food court with a lot of choice, something like 50 different places to eat in total. Our Restaurants In Łódź guide includes eight places to eat around Manufaktura, including Whiskey in the Jar, Galicja, and Bawełna.
Inside the Manufaktura shopping mall
There are a number of guided tours of the city’s key landmarks, available via GetYourGuide. This 4-hour private tour includes Manufaktura and is run by a guide who will teach you what else to look out for once the tour is over.
The original owner of the factory complex had an urban palace on the south east corner, which is now the Museum of Łódź, one of the city’s best attractions. The contemporary art gallery MS2 can be found on the southern border, adjacent to the mall.
Museum of the Factory
Appropriately, Manufaktura also has a museum focused on the site’s historical roots. The Museum of the Factory displays and demonstrates the machinery, tools, and working conditions of the city’s industrial past. The informative staff will also explain the process of how the clothes you are wearing came into existence.
