Władysław Reymont Airport is only 6 kilometres from Łódź city centre, which is good news if you’re arriving by plane. We explain the travel options for getting into town.
Exit from Arrivals
For full details of facilities at Łódź Władysław Reymont Airport, see our dedicated Łódź Airport page. If you’re travelling in from Warsaw instead of Łódź Airport, see our page on How To Get To Łódź. If you’re flying home, we cover the return journey on our How to Get to Łódź Airport from Łódź City Centre page.
Broadly speaking, transport into Łódź is very simple, as you only have two choices: bus or taxi – read on for more details. Deciding on the exact route, however, depends on where you are staying. We recommend booking accommodation in advance, rather than leaving it until you arrive. Our Where To Stay In Łódź guide has suggestions for each category and budget. With your room safely booked, you can plan the most appropriate transport into town before you arrive.
Transport To Łódź City Centre
Łódź Władysław Reymont Airport only runs between two and four incoming flights per day, with the earliest at 9.15am and the latest scheduled to arrive at 10.30pm. This means you’ll generally be able to reach the city centre during the day, when there’s a bus every 20 minutes. The bus stop is directly outside the terminal, which itself is very small.
Similarly, there is a taxi rank directly outside the airport with a queue of vehicles waiting to pick up passengers from recent arrivals.
You can expect the bus to take 23-29 minutes to reach the city centre, while a taxi takes 15 minutes.
Piotrkowska Centrum tram stop
Bus From Łódź Airport
The bus is the only form of public transport available from Łódź Airport, with either a 65A or 65B leaving roughly every 20 minutes. Both head towards the centre before veering north. Assuming you are staying somewhere close to Piotrkowska Centrum, you’ll probably need to change onto a tram. As an example, you might catch the 65A, travel 11 stops to Włókniarzy – Mickiewicza (Dw. Ł. Kaliska), then change onto the number 8 tram from the same stop. Then there are just two more stops until you reach Piotrkowska Centrum, right in the heart of Łódź. The whole journey takes 29 minutes and (currently) costs 4.40zł (about 1€).
Tickets cover durations rather than individual routes. You can change vehicles as many times as you need to, including from bus to tram, as long as you don’t exceed the time limit on your ticket.
Strangely, there is no ticket machine at the airport, so use the Jakdojade journey planner to work out your route and buy a ticket before you travel. If you download the app, it will grab your current location and the destination field will autocomplete many hotels in the city. Then it will work out a timetable of options for you with times, connections, and walking instructions. It is actually more reliable than Google Maps. The iPhone version has Apple Sign-In and Apple Pay, so I was able to set an account up in less than a minute! You can use the free airport wifi to install the app and buy your ticket.
- Jakdojade iOS App Store
- Jakdojade Google Play
- Jakdojade Huawei AppGallery
The advantage of using the app is that it calculates everything for you and you won’t need to navigate the ticket machine. The ticket is time-based, so don’t activate until you get on. If the ticket expires before you finish your journey, you may end up getting a spot fine.
The only downside of the app is that you need to top up funds with a minimum amount of 30zł (about 7€), which is almost 7 journeys. Luckily, these funds won’t expire and you can use the app in all the main Polish cities.

If you don’t want to buy through the app, there is usually a ticket machine on the bus, with an English language option and which accepts card payment.
You need a ticket that covers the duration of your trip. This would generally be a 40-minute ticket costing 5.60zł. But, just to confuse the issue, there is currently an extension on ticket times, so a 20-minute ticket (costing 4.40zł) is currently valid for 40 minutes, and the 40-minute ticket currently lasts for 60 minutes. This means the 20-minute ticket will cover your 30-minute journey into town. These extension times, which are to cover delays caused by roadworks, are due to finish at the end of 2024.
Reduced tickets and travel cards are also available. See the official MPK transport page for the latest prices.
If you buy your ticket onboard the bus, you need to validate it in one of the yellow machines nearby. Just push the ticket in until you hear it stamp. You only need to do this at the very start of your journey, and not if you change vehicles.
Again, the Jakdojade app removes all this confusion and calculates the correct fare for you, as well as validating your ticket and telling you how long you have left. However, it should also be noted that if your journey is delayed and your ticket expires, you will need to buy another one for the rest of your journey. This is unlikely but it has happened to me.
Airport bus stop and taxi rank
Łódź Airport is very small. You’ll emerge from Arrivals in a small corridor with the exit directly in front of you. The bus stop is right outside of the terminal building. You’ll see it from the exit. It’s impossible to get lost. The stop has a timetable but oddly no ticket machine.
There’s no need to get on at the front of the bus or to show the driver your ticket. Just get on via the closest door to you.
You can change buses or onto other form of transport, as long as you don’t exceed the duration of your ticket.
The buses (and trams) are modern and comfortable, although they are often full and you may find yourself standing. Useful screens summarise the route and give information about upcoming stops. You don’t normally have to ring the bell for the busiest stops, but it doesn’t hurt to make sure.
Taxi rank directly outside Arrivals
Taxi From Łódź Airport
The obvious advantages of a cab are that they are fast, can drop you off exactly where you need to be, and there’s no need to navigate a transport system that is completely new to you. A cab may end up costing 10 times more than the bus, but the fares are still very reasonable.
The taxi rank is directly opposite the Arrivals gate. Just leave the terminal building by the exit and you’ll see a short queue of vehicles waiting for passengers. Once you’ve cleared passport control and picked up your bags, you could be in a cab within minutes.
The journey into the centre of town takes roughly 15-20 minutes and should cost 30zł (7€), give or take. Taxi 400 400, Taxi Plus, and and Green Cab are registered to pick up from here and can be trusted. All the same, it’s smart to agree on a ballpark figure before accepting the ride.
Drivers are likely to speak good English but have your destination written down, just in case. Cabs accept card payment, so there’s no need to withdraw or change money at the airport. But, again, it’s always worth checking before you get in.
