Probably the most advanced in Europe, the Planetarium presents a 14m seamless spherical screen with an immersive 8k resolution and state-of-the-art Dolby sound system. A changing repertoire of live shows and site-specific movies explore astronomy and space in creative and engaging ways.
Planetarium EC1
With an ever-changing repertoire of films aimed at different age groups – it open to schools during the day, the Planetarium also screens educational films, cartoons, and music shows (Pink Floyd and U2), in addition to the traditional stargazing. Most are in Polish but a handful now have an English narration. These include Summer Constellations, the most popular screening here. This takes you above the city light pollution to explore the stars directly above Łódź.

The venue is perhaps the most advanced Planetarium in Europe with a 32 million pixel screen of extremely high resolution across a 14m spherical screen. It takes 12 computers to stitch the images together seamlessly and the experience is completed with a top grade sound system and 110 ergonomic armchairs.
This guided tour of the city highlights would make a good combination with a visit to one of the EC1 museums, such as the Planetarium, as it meets right outside.

The Planetarium EC1 is near the Łódź Fabryczna train station and is served from a number of bus stops. The closest is Tuwima – Targowa (Planetarium). Use this official Łódź timetable to plan your journey. The whole area is heavily signposted with maps once you reach the EC1 campus.
Planetarium EC1 address: Targowa 1/3, 90-022 Łódź, Poland
Most attractions at EC1 are open as follows:
- Tuesday-Sunday: 10am-6pm
- Monday: closed
There are also some special evening screenings. See the website for details.
Unfortunately, I didn’t find the official Planetarium website very useful. I couldn’t get the English language function to work and there is limited information about public holidays, last entry times, or accessibility.
Screenings at the Planetarium are 25zł (19zł reduced) on weekdays and 27zł (20zł reduced). The Planetarium is not suitable for children under 5.
Unfortunately, the advanced ticket site is also in Polish and didn’t work well for me in every web browser. You can check it to make sure there are still places left and then just turn up in person and buy tickets on the door. The staff will be happy to sell you tickets and explain the different shows on offer.
All times and prices are subject to change, and opening hours may be different during public holidays.
