Considering the history of the city, Łódź is underserved by Jewish restaurants. Imber is a homely bolt hole in a courtyard behind an art nouveau façade, serving soulful dishes.

Tucked into a courtyard between ul. Piotrkowska and Zielona, close to the MS2 art gallery, Imber is a bright, Jewish-influenced bistro-style restaurant, with a courtyard dining space, as well as the rustic interior particularly suited for large groups of diners. The entrance is reached through the alleyway of a beautiful art nouveau building at 43 Piotrkowska.
The menu includes herring tartare and mutton broth with baked vegetables, as well as duck soup and Jerusalem salad. The restaurant is particularly famous for Poles after a makeover on Magda Gessler’s Kitchen Revolutions, the domestic version of Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares a couple of years ago.
