A quality men’s hairdressers during the day, Brush Barber Shop converts into an excellent cocktail bar after the floors are swept and scissors put away.

A curious multi-purpose venue, Brush is a fine and fully-featured barber shop by day, and a slick and serious cocktail bar at night. Though you can still use the bar or get a coffee if you’re waiting for someone to get a trim. The space itself is compact, and of a piece with the Łódź post-industrial style – distressed brick work and a long wooden counter lined with stools and some rather nice green tiling. Get here early to bag one of the big leather sofas.
There is a seasonal, shifting menu of inventive cocktails, some served with a big touch of showmanship. The bar has won a couple of big awards since it opened. You can also order drinks off-menu. There’s something aesthetically pleasing about the neat arrangement of bottles and ingredients behind and on the bar. I was reminded of the bar in Tarkovsky’s Stalker. The venue also has regular live music – think jazz trios and the like. The bar is closed on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
