For many visitors, seeing a band or sporting event at the indoor Atlas Arena is what brought them to Łódź in the first place.
Atlas Arena
Located to the west of the city centre, this 10,000-plus seater indoor arena is a big draw for touring bands when they come to Poland. Depeche Mode, The Cure, and Hans Zimmer have all performed there in recent years, and the venue has also seen sporting finals. This is a concrete flying saucer of a building. Though finished in 2009, it is beginning to show some wear and tear.
The Arena has a relatively low ceiling with the seats on a gradual incline. Though this means you can end up further from the stage, it puts you closer to eye level, rather than gawping down from the gods. Obviously this kind of stadium has its irritations, overpriced (and subpar) food and drink, and bossy staff. Still, it can be the chance to see your favourite band in a brand new city.
